Claim: Conservative pundits and blog claim that a video shows Coretta Scott King thanking Jeff Sessions in a speech.
In response to Elizabeth Warren having rule XIX invoked against her, a number of conservative pundits and blogs have argued that in a speech on December 1, 2000 at the dedication speech for the Rosa Parks Library she thanked Jeff Session and thus her point was not valid. One can find the video of this speech on YouTube and the video is authentic. The following is the applicable part of the speech.
To President Martindale, to Sen. Sessions, Mayor Bright, Troy State Chancellor, Jack Hawkins Jr., Dr. Dorothy Height, Ms. Johnnie Carr, Juanita Abernathy, Mammie Till-Mobley, to all of the distinguished program participants and guests in this audience today, it’s a great honor and a privilege for me to join you in celebrating the grand opening of the Rosa Parks Library and Museum.
This is the only time she mentions Sessions in the speech. This statement is not a statement of praise or thanks. It is an acknowledgment of important people who were in attendance. As such, the pundits and blogs that are making this claim are spinning the truth and it is false.
